Express dental care is an independent, economy dental provider that offers patients access to dental treatment at the same price of the NHS.
Currently in the UK only dental practices with an ‘NHS contract’ can provide dental treatment under the NHS. This means if you would like to benefit from the NHS you have to attend a practice with one of these contracts, which has led to many people struggling to find an NHS dentist and going without any dental care, which can be very damaging to your overall health.
Express dental care is now offering patients the opportunity to be treated for the same cost as the NHS in private practices.
Unlike other branches of healthcare in the UK, the public have to pay fees for NHS dentistry (unless you are under the age of 18 or have an exemption that entitles you to free treatment). We believe that as everyone is made to pay a fee to see the dentist then there should be no reason why you can’t experience a better level of treatment at the same price outside of the NHS in a private practice.
Also each of these
practices with an NHS contract has to hit certain targets each year. This means
that if the practice runs out of its funding for the year and has hit there
targets early then you might not be entitled to NHS treatment at that practice
and be forced to pay privately. Furthermore the treatment that you are
recommended can sometimes be based on these targets, which is not the way it
"We have been shocked with the numbers of dissatisfied NHS patients who have commented that the only reason that they have not pursued a complaint about poor treatment in the NHS is due to a fear of being blacklisted from the practice and not being able to find another dentist. Express dental care wants to change this and open practices across the UK so that you will have a choice of which practice you would like to attend and no longer live in fear of not finding an affordable dentist." Dr Alex Al-Shaikh
Express Dental Care is not paid by the government and thus we have no targets to hit. The treatment you need is a decision that is made between you and the dentist. The way it should be!
As a patient of express dental care you still have every right to complain to either the GDC or CQC that regulates both NHS and Private practices if you are unhappy about any of the treatment that you have received. Please note certain treatments requiring the use of higher quality more costly materials may not allow for treatment under this express dental care system.
