White fillings are quickly replacing the older 'silver' fillings that people commonly associate with the dentist.
Why Should I go for White Fillings?
The most obvious reason is the appearance. The advanced tooth coloured materials that are available now mean that fillings can be made to disappear within the tooth so nobody will ever notice its there.
Sometimes you may hear a rumour that the white fillings are not as strong as the conventional silver fillings but again due to advances in technology the most recent evidence shows that the white materials are just as strong as the silver.
How long do they take to place?
White fillings usually take a bit longer to place then silver fillings because there are more steps to be taken to make sure that the filling bonds well to the teeth. Normally the white fillings can be done in a single visit to the dentist unless there are many to do.
How long do they last?
White filings have an average life span of 8-12 years before they may require replacing which is comparable to all other filling materials.
Can I have my silver fillings changed?
Yes of course. This is one of the most commonly requested treatments and the process is very simple.
